Young bride....Young love!

By Natalie
Well my name is natalie and i am 21 years old. I am engaged to my beautiful fiance alex and have been together for for over 4 years and engaged for 6 months. I have known alex since the ages of 13, we were always good friends and my best friend was his sister! Weird i know..... then one day after a few cheeky drinks we kissed.

From that moment on we have been inseparable. In 2010 we went on a fabulous holiday to marmaris just, the two of us. I knew something wasnt right with alex from the moment we left Newcastle Airport, he was quite and nervous like. But after a few days on the beach he seemed a lot happier. On the 5th night on our holiday he kept asking how he looked and that he needed trousers with a bigger pocket......hmmm....i thought what a weird thing to say!

The sun was just setting and he wanted to take a walk along the empty beach. We sat on the deck chairs that was out watching the sun go down.... was the best thing to see in my life. After a few moment Alex stood up and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.......ARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!! I could not belive it was real. Obviously i said yes. After an hour of calming down i sent the picture to all my friends and family...who were all in the UK waiting for it to happen. We then went for a meal in the nicest restaurant which over looks the city......PERFECT. i have got to say it was the best moment of my life and what a lovely way to ask!!

I never actually even thought of getting engaged or even married....but here i am ...getting married in 2013. Since announcing the date to our family the location/colour scheme/date/time has change 100's of times.

The fact that we wanted a small wedding didnt at first go down well to our huge familys, but it just seems crazy to have hundereds there. We have decided to marry in The Anvil Hall in Scotland with 18 of our closest family members. Alexs sister Emily is my cheif bridesmaid and also my little 5 year old sister as bridesmaid. I actually think she is more exited than me at the thought or wearing a dress!
Ha Alexs brother Nick is the best man and my little 6 year old brother as paige boy (I keep telling him he has to wear a dress which he is not impressed about :) ) We picked scotland due to the sad departure of Alexs grandma who sadly died in 2011. She was scotish so we thought it would be a nice touch t marry in her home land. We are still i the process of saving the deposit but the date is still free....hopefully!

We are making our own package which will include horse and carriage, scotish piper and release of doves. Perfect!! After attending a wedding show at St.James Park i have chose the colour theme as deep purple. Originally it was leopard print but everytime i mentioned it people turned there nose up! Thats what happens when so many people are involved!!

I have seen a beautiful dress by sophia tolli which would be perfect for me but need to try it on. Many people are shocked that at 23 we will be married as in the current world most people are older.... what a load of rubbish. I belive no matter how old if you love someone why not marry them? Alex is my best friend....always has been. Fair enough at the minute hes annoying me as he is sat watching football! Luckly the cost will be split 3 ways between me and alex, alexs parenta dn my parents. Just as well because wedding are bloody expensive.
Even though we are only having a small handfull the cost is mental. Thats all the plans at the minute, still need to put in a lot of work and effort but we will get there. On the 28th April a few of us are going to Tiger Tigers wedding show..... yes we have the priorities right.....HEN and STAG party :O

Lake District Wedding Venues

By jenjen
The English Lake District has been named as one of the most romantic destinations in the UK.

With the Lake District being named most romantic destination this Valentine’s, it isn’t surprising that couples then want to return to get married. A staggering 31% of couples interviewed voted for the Lake District over destinations such as the Cotswolds, Bath and York.

The Lake District has been a popular destination for some time for couples escaping for a romantic weekend break or holiday. Cumbria and The Lake District has a varied choice of areas offering different landscapes from the north Lakes, Keswick and Derwent Water to the busy south Lakes. Each area has a different feel and will accommodate for a variety of tastes.

The romantic nature of this area unsurprisingly attracts couples looking for a wedding destination. Year on year the Lake District is attracting more and more couples with hotels in the Lake District seeing steady increases in weddings throughout the year. There is an excellent choice of Lake District wedding venues due to the high number of hotels. Having this choice enables a wedding party to select the best venue for the size and theme of the wedding.

For more unique Lake District weddings you could hire a steamer to take your guests on a lake cruise whilst drinking champagne and at nightfall you could organise a spectacular firework display over the lake. For something more romantic and less formal you can enjoy a simple ceremony and a walk up one of the Lakeland fells with a picnic and enjoy the breathtaking views - the choice is yours.

The area is very much geared up for Lake District weddings. The large number of weddings held in Lake District hotels has meant other facilities are readily available such as car hire, photographers, DJ’s and cake makers. Should the bride and groom live out of the area, no services need to be brought with them. This of course makes organisation much easier and keeps costs down.

The Lake District is also seeing a high number of honeymooners. Especially high quality 4 and 5 star hotels are plentiful so ultimate luxury can be achieved. Of course, if the couple are into walking then a better destination cannot be found. Purely gazing at the scenery can entertain but there are endless activities, museums, gardens, galleries and activity centres to visit.

The English Lake District is one of fifty places worldwide that National Geographic states is a must to visit, and there is no better way to see it than on foot whether it be for a short break or whilst staying up there at a relative’s Lake District wedding. Escape for a day on the Lake District fells. The scenery is so amazing that even if you are not a into walking then just looking at the spectacular views is enough. This makes the Lake District an area for all ages. Couple that with endless activities, museums, gardens and local farm shops to visit. There are many hotels in the Lake District and many beautiful areas making the choice of where to stay endless.

Why use a Wedding Planner?

By lainey72

Many people think that a wedding planner will take over your day and be very expensive, but they can actually help you have a fantastic day without any of the hassle and stress and if you don’t mind delegating, a planner can provide a perfect solution for a bride that has too much to do but too little time. Here are few things that a wedding planner can do:-

Time – It takes an incredible amount of time to plan a wedding. A wedding planner is like having a personal assistant who is there to look after the details that you may not have time to deal with.

Knowledge – There is very little a good wedding planner doesn't know. It's their job to listen to your dreams and make them a reality. They will also advise on all aspects of wedding etiquette and traditions.

Support – Wedding planners are there to lend support and act as an independent third party.

Affordability – Weddings can be expensive, while hiring a wedding planner can seem like an extra cost, it could save you money.

Winter Wonderland Weddings

By RachelR
With winter looming I thought it was only appropriate to write a post on winter weddings. Despite the unrelenting cold, winter weddings, when executed correctly, can look immeasurably elegant and glamorous. They have an ethereal quality that really enchants the viewer. There are slightly different rules for winter weddings though. An outdoor wedding, while brave, is unlikely to achieve the same rustic appeal as a summer wedding, and with English weather so temperamental, it's unlikely to withstand the biting winds and rain. Despite this limitation though, there is incredible scope, in terms of creativity, where winter weddings are concerned. Due to the darker rays, brides can afford to opt for slightly heavier makeup than they can in the summer. While dark, heavy eyeliner may look too austere in bright sunlight, in grey-tone winter rays it adds welcome definition. Additionally, glitter is best saved for winter weddings. Although glitter should always be used tentatively, a light sweep of sheer glitter in the inner corner of eyes will open and brighten eyes; similarly, a delicate application of glitter across the cheekbones will create the illusion of added definition. If you have any features you are slightly insecure about, glitter is a wonderful way of drawing attention away from said features and focusing on your best bits.
Winter weddings also require slightly more planning sartorially, particularly given most brides want at least some pictures outside; consider choosing a faux fur shrug to ward off the cold, or a cream angora cardigan like Miss Middleton wore. Alternatively, a sweeping cape will look effortlessly elegant while keeping you warm. Bridesmaids will also require a cover up, and cashmere wraps are an excellent option; complementing any outfit, they are simple and elegant and won’t pull focus from the bride.

If you fancy creating a snow queen vibe, opt for large quantities of glass and crystal, and even an ice sculpture; the thought may make you shiver, but it will look resplendent at a white themed winter wedding, and copious amounts of glass and crystal will make the light scintillate. For a warmer, softer vibe, opt for copious amounts of candles and tea lights, or festoon the venue with fairy lights. Pine cones, gingerbread houses and snowglobes also create a fabulous festive feel, as do rich, dense fabrics such as velvet. In terms of colour schemes, white and silver is incredibly stark and striking, creating an ethereal ambience, while dark, warm colours like burgundy help to create a more festive atmosphere.

In addition to a slightly different set of aesthetics, winter weddings can also draw on different foods. Warm, chocolate based cocktails make a wonderful addition to any winter wedding, and if you want to capitalise on the festive cheer you can really focus on Christmas flavours - think cinnamon, orange, cloves, ginger, candied fruits. Serve a fruity concoction of champagne or cava mixed with mulled wine. It makes a delicious, warm, upmarket alternative to punch. Alcoholic hot chocolate or coffee with a healthy splash of Tia Maria also works well, particularly when accompanied by miniature doughnuts. Alternatively, cocktails with ginger and cinnamon will tantalise guests' tastebuds and offer a more subtle nod to Christmas. Hot canapes will also help to ward off the cold, and for a truly festive treat try chocolate coated chestnuts, which offer a modern take on a traditional treat. Chocolate fountains also work well at winter weddings, providing the palette with a pleasantly warm, silky sensation. If you’ve opted for a white colour scheme, co-ordinate with white chocolate, which will offer a wonderful echo. Where favours are cocerned, gingerbread cookies prove popular, but snowglobes and miniature Christmas trees are an interesting alternative.

DESSY INSPIRATION BOARD - YELLOW AND BLACK

By Annieadmin

YELLOW & BLACK DESSY BOARD.jpg

This is another theme using the Dessy theme board from http://www.dessy.com/

This time I have used a simple two colour theme in black and yellow.

As you can see they are two totally contrasting colours and make a huge statement. The yellow is great for spring or summer weddings, and the black shows the yellow off to it's best.

This is obvioulsy a very bold idea and probably quite a considered option. But if you really want to make a statement for your wedding I think that it is a stunning way to make it and to show people that you are a bit different.

A great idea for people who would like their wedding to be a little 'out there'!
